General Maintenance Corporation is hiring full-time Painters & Construction Laborers to execute commercial painting, exterior gas station branding, and canopy maintenance projects across Southern Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and the Florida panhandle. Working under the direct instruction of the Site Foreman, you will be responsible for surface prep, painting, ACM panel and decal installations, and basic field construction tasks. No prior specialized experience is required, though a basic background in construction or painting is preferred.
Key Responsibilities
  • Surface Preparation: Wash, scrape, sand, caulk, and mask off surfaces (columns, curbing, fascia, bumper poles, buildings) to ensure proper finish adherence.
  • Commercial Painting: Apply primers, sealers, and finish coats using brushes and rollers on various structural materials.
  • Branding & Signage Installation: Utilize scissor lifts and ladders to install canopy fascia panels, wordmarks, lights, dispenser decals, lane IDs, and advertising units.
  • Site Support & Maintenance: Remove and reattach hardware/fixtures (fire extinguishers, windshield wiper holders, signage) prior to painting. Perform minor gutter and deck pan repairs when needed.
  • Daily Operations: Report directly to the Site Foreman each morning, follow site safety instructions, and perform assigned work tasks efficiently.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
  • Work Setting: 95% outdoor work under gas station canopies in all weather conditions (extreme heat, cold, wind, rain).
  • Physical Demands: Requires continuous standing/walking (5.5–8 hours daily), frequent lifting up to 50 lbs, and unrestricted bending, kneeling, and reaching.
  • Safety & Gear: Daily operation of power tools, scissor lifts, ladders, and safety harnesses. Required attire includes steel-toe boots, jeans, and company-provided ANSI Class 2 reflective work shirts.
  • Transportation: Workers meet at the main office daily and are transported to project sites in company vehicles.
Qualifications
  • Skills & Experience: Basic familiarity with hand/power tools (drills, impact drivers, grinders, saws) and painting methods preferred.
  • Height & Equipment Comfort: Comfortable working at heights using extension ladders (<24') and scissor lifts.
  • Communication & Teamwork: Ability to listen actively, follow verbal instructions from the foreman, and work well in a team environment.
  • Tech Requirements: Personal smartphone required to log hours on payroll apps and take job completion photos.
  • Education: Open to all applicants; no High School Diploma required.
